VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: The Board of Christian Education invites all children ages 4-12 to Vacation Bible School. Our Theme this year is "The Tree of Life." Date and Time: June 6-9, from 5pm - 7pm, supper will be provided. Bring a friend and share the love of Jesus!

WANDA K., our dear sister in Christ, died to this earthly life on May 10th. Her funeral was here at Our Savior’s on May 18th. Her earthly remains were interred in Newman Grove, Nebraska, awaiting the bodily resurrection to everlasting life on the Last Day.

DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST, In an effort to keep you all informed, I wanted to let you know the Board of Elders and the Congregation Chairman met with Pastor Praeuner Sunday, May 15, following the Divine Service. Pastor Praeuner will begin serving as our Vacancy Pastor following Pastor Bertram’s retirement and his first service for us will be June 5. Since Pastor Praeuner lives in Hot Springs, S.D., he will not be in Chadron every day. However, the Elders and Pastor Praeuner have determined a schedule that should be suitable for all parties involved. Pastor Praeuner will be in Chadron serving our congregation Sundays and Mondays. For the foreseeable future, he is asking the boards to have their regular meetings either on Sunday afternoons or Mondays so he can join the discussions. If you are a board chair, please visit with Pastor Praeuner at your convenience to determine a good time for your regular meeting.
Confirmation classes will resume after Labor Day and the families of the students involved should discuss a suitable date and time with Pastor Praeuner later this summer.
One final note … since Pastor Prauener will be staying in Chadron, furnishings are needed for the parsonage. If you are willing to donate, a bed, table, desk, chairs, and other suitable home furnishings would be most appreciated.
   Blessings, Alex H.

THANK YOU to the congregation for the beautiful plaques given to Pastor and Beverly last Sunday. They will be placed in a prominent place in our new home. Thank you also for the clock which plays a hymn or a Christmas carol on the hour. How unique! It will always be prominently placed. And thanks to all who helped with the carry-in dinner and our farewell reception. You all are a gift from God!
In Christ’s love and ours,
Pastor and Beverly Bertram

READ THE BIBLE IN 2022: This past week, May 22 through 28, we read Ezra 4 - Nehemiah 11. While Ezra is focused on rebuilding the temple and worship, a focus in Nehemiah is rebuilding the walls around Jerusalem, yet an important theme we find in both of these books of the Bible is prayer. Ezra’s prayer is prompted by the sin of intermarriage. God called Israel His own. They were to keep themselves from the idols of the surrounding nations. Marriage to an idol worshipper was synonymous with accepting their foreign gods—breaking the First Commandment. Ezra’s prayer was a prayer of confession. He acknowledged their sin and that God is faithful even when His people are not. When Nehemiah, still an Exile, heard of the conditions in Jerusalem, he prayed a prayer of confession for their sins and intervention for their success in rebuilding the city of David. By the hand of God, Nehemiah then returned to Jerusalem and led the people in many reforms, including rebuilding the walls of the city. Together with Ezra and the Levites, Nehemiah reestablished the reading of the law, the Feast of Booths, and the Mosaic Covenant. During this time, the Levites’ prayer of praise, repentance and obedience to God helped to put God back in the center of the Israelite way of life. This week (May 29 - Jun 4) read Nehemiah 12 through Job 13.

LIFE QUOTES MAY 29, 2022
“Every child is created by God, in His image, on purpose—for His purpose! This is the wonderful thing about human babies: ALL of us share this exact same thing in common—each of us is planned!” Barbara A. Geistfeld, D.V.M. Lutherans For Life regional director of Texas – A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life • lutheransforlife.org

STEWARDSHIP BULLETIN SENTENCES MAY 29, 2022
Seventh Sunday of Easter
Acts 1:16 – “Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke beforehand by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.” Judas sold out our Lord for 30 pieces of silver. That is, he sold out his friend, Master, and teacher for the sake of greed. That is a sharp reminder for us to search our own hearts for greed and to pray that the Lord would help us to turn away from greed before it consumes us.
