LENTEN WORSHIP PRACTICES: Throughout the season of Lent we will observe these practices: 1) The Alleluia will be omitted. 2) The Hymn of Praise—Gloria in Excelsis—will be omitted. We will pause for silence in its absence. 3) We will speak both the Introit and Gradual in unison.

GUIDANCE FROM OUR CHURCH COUNCIL DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC:  In the Divine Service and in the rest of our group activities we will continue to maintain physical distancing as instructed by Governor Ricketts--6 feet between individuals except those living in the same household. Thank you for your Christian love shown to each other during these times. Lord, have mercy!

PINE RIDGE CIRCUIT VISITOR PASTOR SCOTT FIRMINHAC of Our Savior, Torrington, WY is making the triennial (every third year) episcope (oversight) visit with Pastor Bertram this weekend. He will be with us for both the Adult Bible Class and the Divine Service and will make brief remarks at the close of each.

LENTEN DAILY DEVOTIONS: The theme for this year’s devotional booklet is “Return to the Lord.” There are 47 daily devotions which run through Easter Sunday. “No matter your sin. No matter your fear. He calls you to return.” Pick up your copy today on the Missions Table in the Fellowship Hall.
THE LUTHERAN HOUR: Dennis Brown will speak after the Divine Service about the work of the Lutheran Hour.

LENTEN MIDWEEK VESPER SERVICES continue this Wednesday, March 3 at 7:00PM. The overall theme for these services is “Three Significant Days.” Those days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Holy Week. This Wednesday’s theme is “Significant Questions—Tuesday of Holy Week” and the text is Mark 12:28-37. Join together with your fellow Lutherans and our guests as we journey toward the cross of Christ this Wednesday at 7:00PM.

A VERSE FROM THE GOOD BOOK: For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Galatians 5:13-14).

CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING on Wednesday March 10 following Lenten Vespers.

PASTOR BERTRAM will be in Casper at the Lutheran Ministries Center (307-265-9000) attending the Wyoming District Convention Resolutions Committee Friday, March 5 and Saturday March 6.

READ THE BIBLE IN 2021: This past week, ending on February 27, we read Numbers 23 through Deuteronomy 2. There we learned about King Balak, a king from Moab that enlisted the aid of a false prophet named Balaam. One of the things we remember Balaam for is the incident of Peor, which introduced Israel to Baal worship, and provoked God’s anger so that a plague fell on Israel that claimed 24,000 lives. The Lord’s anger diminished after Phinehas took decisive action against an Israelite man that had relations with a temple prostitute. Before leaving the book of Numbers, we saw how the Lord had Israel take retribution against Midian, killing their men, their five kings and the false prophet Balaam. Turning to Deuteronomy we started reading where Moses recaps the past 40 years to the next generation of Israelites as he prepares them for entry into the Promised Land. To help us remember what we read a short quiz has been posted on our website. Jump to Bible Questions

LIFE QUOTES FEBRUARY 28, 2021
“Christians are to show no partiality whatsoever. My brother in Christ who happens to have more melanin than I have in the paper-thin upper level of our skin—while all the skin below the paper is the same—is not of a different race than I. So-called ‘race’ is not even skin deep! That’s mere upper-skin coloring, not race. Varying levels of mere melanin indicate that we’re all coffee beans—some are blonde roast, some are medium or dark or espresso roast, but we’re all coffee, we’re all colored people.” James M. Kushiner, The Fellowship of St. James – A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life • lutheransforlife.org

STEWARDSHIP BULLETIN SENTENCES FEB 28, 2021
Lent 2
Mark 8:32 – “And he said this plainly. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.” Anytime we sin we are acting like Peter: thinking we know better than the Lord. But as Jesus says, such acts stem from Satan. So let us repent: let us trust our Lord Jesus and follow Him. For certainly He has earned our trust with His gracious sacrifice for us.
