Overview
READ THE BIBLE IN 2017! In addition to reading the Bible, many Bible sites, such as BibleGateway, offer Bibles you can listen to on-line; or you can download a free audio Bible from http://www.bible.is/download/audio. Like all forms of Bible study, reading God’s Holy Word helps us to write His precepts on our heart, live holy lives that please God, and draw closer to our Creator as we read and meditate on His Word.
Because chapters of the Bible vary in size, comprehension level, reading time, etc., it is best to set aside a time of the day where your reading program is not in conflict with other things such as getting ready for school or work. Allow yourself plenty of time so you aren’t watching the clock, but focused on the Word.
When reading the Bible, remember you are reading His Word, so pray before you start and trust that the Holy Spirit will help you to read, understand, and apply the Word to your life.
Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him (Psalm 37:5). All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17). For the word of God is alive and active (Hebrews 4:12). [The Holy Spirit] will bear witness about [Jesus]. (John 15:26)
